Richard J. Schell

Richard J. Schell completed his undergraduate studies at Amherst College in 2012, double majoring in German and in History. During his time at Amherst, he also spent a semester studying abroad at the Georg-August Universität Göttingen in Germany.

Mr. Schell studied law at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, graduating with honors in 2015. During law school, he was research assistant to Associate Dean Hiram Meléndez-Juarbe and also spent a year working as a student clerk to the Hon. Juan R. Torruella, of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

While in law school, Mr. Schell authored the following articles: The International Push for Free Maritime Navigation: A Brief Summary of Canada’s Contested Sovereignty over the Northwest Passage, PANGEA (Feb. 5, 2015), and A Case Study On the Politics Behind Sustainable Energy Policy: Germany’s “Atom-Moratorium” and “Energiewende,” 7 U.P.R. BUS. L.J. 55 (2016).

Mr. Schell also has experience in government, having worked in Congress for the Hon. Luis G. Fortuño and in the Puerto Rico Department of State, as an assistant to the Undersecretary of State. Mr. Schell’s practice focuses primarily on tort, labor and employment law, and corporate law and compliance.

He is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
